Mercari Profit Calculator

Work out your real Mercari payout and profit, including the fee on buyer-paid shipping that most sellers forget.

—

Profit is everything the buyer paid (item plus shipping) minus the selling fee, the label you bought, your item cost and packaging. The trap this calculator exposes is the fee base: because the fee covers buyer-paid shipping too, a 'buyer pays shipping' sale still costs you 10% of that shipping.

Formula

Selling fee = 10% × (item price + shipping the buyer pays). Profit = item price + buyer-paid shipping − selling fee − label cost − item cost − packaging.

How it works

Enter the item price, what the buyer pays for shipping, what the label actually costs you, and your item and packaging costs. If you offer free shipping, enter 0 for buyer-paid shipping and put the full label cost in the label field — the fee then applies to the item price only.

Worked example

Item $50.00 plus $5.00 buyer-paid shipping = $55.00. Selling fee = 10% × $55.00 = $5.50. Payout before your costs = $49.50. Label $5.00 and item cost $20.00 leave a profit of $24.50. If you had calculated the fee on the $50.00 item price alone, you would have overstated profit by $0.50.

FAQs

Is there a separate payment processing fee on Mercari?
Under the current fee structure there is no separate seller payment processing fee — the 10% selling fee is the seller-side charge. Buyers pay a separate Buyer Protection fee that does not come out of your payout.

What if I offer free shipping?
Then the fee base is just the item price, but you pay the whole label yourself. Enter 0 for buyer-paid shipping and the label cost in full, and compare both versions before choosing.

Does Mercari charge a listing fee?
No. Listing is free and you only pay when an item sells.

Why is my payout less than price minus 10%?
Because the fee base includes buyer-paid shipping, and because the label, packaging and item cost all come after the fee. Check each line rather than trusting a single percentage.

What about instant cash-out fees?
Direct deposit cash-out is free; instant pay carries a per-transfer charge. This calculator stops at sale profit — cash-out choice does not change the sale math.

Stand: October 2026. Confirmed from Mercari's own help page: a 10% selling fee applies to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping for listings created or updated on or after January 6, 2025. Source: Mercari Help Center — Fees on Mercari.
