Amazon FBA Profit Calculator
Work out the profit on one Amazon FBA sale: sale price minus product cost, referral fee, fulfillment fee and any other per-unit cost.
The result shows profit per unit after the costs you can see on every sale, plus the margin as a share of the sale price. It does not include the $39.99 monthly Professional plan fee, storage, inbound placement, returns or advertising, so spread those across your monthly units separately — a per-unit profit that looks healthy can still shrink once monthly costs are added.
Formula
Referral fee = referral rate × sale price, with a $0.30 minimum per item. Profit per unit = sale price − product cost − referral fee − FBA fulfillment fee − other per-unit costs. Margin = profit per unit ÷ sale price × 100.
How it works
Enter the price the buyer pays, what the unit costs you landed, and your category's referral rate — 15% covers most categories, 8% covers electronics and computers. Enter your FBA fulfillment fee from Amazon's current rate card for your size tier and weight; this calculator deliberately leaves it as an input because the fee varies by size, weight and price band and changes during peak season. Add any other per-unit cost, such as prep or inserts, in the last field.
Worked example
A $29.99 item costing $8.00, at a 15% referral rate with a $5.00 fulfillment fee: the referral fee is 15% of $29.99 = $4.50 (above the $0.30 minimum). Profit is $29.99 − $8.00 − $4.50 − $5.00 = $12.49 per unit, and the margin is $12.49 ÷ $29.99 = 41.6%.
FAQs
What is the Amazon referral fee?
A percentage of the total sale price set by category — 15% in most categories, 8% for electronics and computers — with a $0.30 minimum per item. Some categories use tiered rates that change at price thresholds.
Why do I enter the FBA fulfillment fee myself?
Because it depends on your product's size tier, shipping weight and price band, and Amazon adjusts it seasonally, including peak rates from mid-October to mid-January and a fuel surcharge added in 2026. Your exact fee is on Amazon's FBA rate card and Revenue Calculator.
Is the $39.99 Professional plan fee included?
No. That is a monthly fee, not a per-unit fee, so divide it by your expected monthly units and add it to your other per-unit costs if you want it reflected here.
What about storage fees?
Monthly storage is charged per cubic foot on the inventory you hold, at a higher rate from October to December, so it is not a fixed per-unit number. Estimate your monthly storage, divide by units sold, and add it as an other per-unit cost.
Does this calculator include advertising?
No. Sponsored Products spend and any promotions come after this per-unit profit, so subtract your average ad cost per unit before you call a product a winner.
