Etsy Fee Calculator

Work out exactly what Etsy takes from a sale, including Offsite Ads when they apply, and what you keep before your own product and shipping costs.

—

The result shows each Etsy charge separately, so you can see which fee hurts most on a low-priced item: the fixed $0.20 listing fee and $0.25 processing charge weigh far more on a $5 sale than on a $50 one.

Formula

Total Etsy fees = $0.20 listing fee + 6.5% of (item price + shipping charged) + 3% of (item price + shipping charged) + $0.25 + Offsite Ads fee, where the Offsite Ads fee is 15% or 12% of (item price + shipping charged), capped at $100 per order, and $0 when the sale did not come from an Offsite Ad.

How it works

Enter the item price and the shipping amount the buyer pays. Choose whether the sale came through an Offsite Ad and, if so, which rate your shop pays. The calculator applies each fee to the correct base: listing is flat, transaction and processing apply to price plus shipping charged, and Offsite Ads apply to the same base but stop at $100 per order.

Worked example

A $30 item with $10 shipping charged, no Offsite Ad: the order total is $40.00. Listing fee $0.20. Transaction fee 6.5% of $40.00 = $2.60. Payment processing 3% of $40.00 = $1.20, plus $0.25 = $1.45. Total fees $0.20 + $2.60 + $1.45 = $4.25. You keep $40.00 − $4.25 = $35.75 before product and shipping costs.

FAQs

What does the Etsy fee calculator include?

It includes the $0.20 listing fee, the 6.5% transaction fee on item price plus shipping charged, the US payment processing fee of 3% plus $0.25, and, when you select it, the Offsite Ads fee of 15% or 12%, capped at $100 per order.

Is the Offsite Ads fee charged on every sale?

No. It applies only when a buyer clicks an Etsy ad shown on another site and buys from your shop within 30 days. Shops under $10,000 in Etsy sales over the past 365 days pay 15% and may opt out; shops at or above $10,000 pay 12% and cannot opt out.

Why is the transaction fee charged on shipping too?

Etsy charges the 6.5% transaction fee on the price you display plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer. Charging more for shipping does not move that amount outside the fee.

Does this calculator include sales tax?

No. Sales tax collected and remitted through Etsy is left out of this calculation, so your real fee line on a taxed order can differ slightly. Check your Payment account for the exact split on a real order.

What if my shop is outside the US?

The listing and transaction fees work the same way, but the payment processing rate varies by the country of your payment account, and a currency conversion fee of 2.5% can apply when your listing currency differs from your payment account currency. Replace the 3% plus $0.25 figure with your own rate.

Sources: Etsy Help — What are the Fees and Taxes for Selling on Etsy and Etsy Fees & Payments Policy. The US payment processing rate of 3% plus $0.25 is Etsy's published US rate; Etsy states the processing rate varies by country, so non-US sellers should use their own rate.
