Formula
Referral fee = referral rate × (item price + shipping paid by buyer). You keep = (item price + shipping paid by buyer) − referral fee, before your product cost and the shipping cost you actually pay the carrier.
How it works
Enter the item price and the shipping amount the buyer pays, then your referral rate. The calculator applies the rate to the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, which is the base TikTok Shop uses for the referral fee, and shows what remains before your own costs.
Worked example
A $40 item with $5 shipping paid by the buyer, at the 6% default rate: the buyer-paid total is $45.00. Referral fee 6% of $45.00 = $2.70. You keep $45.00 − $2.70 = $42.30 before product and shipping costs.
FAQs
What does the TikTok Shop fee calculator include?
It includes only the TikTok Shop referral fee, calculated on the item price plus shipping paid by the buyer. It does not include your product cost, the shipping cost you pay the carrier, creator affiliate commission, or advertising spend.
Is the referral fee the same for every category?
No. The rate is set by category. Published guides checked against TikTok Shop Seller University in October 2026 list 6% for most categories and 5% for some jewelry and pre-owned categories. Use the editable rate field if your category rate differs.
Is the referral fee charged on shipping too?
Yes, on the shipping amount the buyer pays. That is why a free-shipping listing, where the buyer pays $0 for shipping, has a smaller referral-fee base than the same item with buyer-paid shipping, even though you then absorb the carrier cost yourself.
Does the referral fee include payment processing?
Published guides describe the US referral fee as encompassing TikTok Shop platform fees, with no separate payment processing line on the order. Check your own settlement statement if the split on your orders looks different.
What happens to the fee if the order is refunded?
On a refunded order TikTok Shop returns the referral fee except for a refund administration fee, reported as 20% of the original referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU. This calculator covers completed sales only; use the creator payout and profit calculators to model returns.

Note: some third-party reports say the standard US referral rate rose to 8% from August 4, 2026. TikTok's published category table still lists 6% for most categories (revised May 2026). Check your own rate in Seller Center and change the rate field if it differs.
