Work out Mercari's 10% selling fee on an item plus buyer-paid shipping, and what lands in your payout before your own costs.
The result shows the 10% selling fee and the payout that remains after that fee and any label cost you pay yourself. The buyer also pays a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout, but that is charged to the buyer, not deducted from your payout. Your item cost and packaging still come out of the payout.
Formula
Mercari selling fee = 10% × (item price + shipping the buyer pays). Payout = item price + shipping the buyer pays − selling fee − label cost you pay yourself.
How it works
Enter the item price and, separately, any shipping the buyer pays, because Mercari charges its 10% on the two combined. If you pay for the label yourself instead of passing shipping to the buyer, enter that label cost in the third field so it is subtracted from your payout. Listing is free, so there is no listing fee to add.
Worked example
A $50 item with $5 of buyer-paid shipping: the fee base is $55.00, so the fee is 10% of $55.00 = $5.50, and the payout is $55.00 − $5.50 = $49.50 before your item cost. If you had instead paid a $5 label yourself with no buyer-paid shipping, the fee would be 10% of $50.00 = $5.00 and the payout would be $50.00 − $5.00 − $5.00 = $40.00.

What is Mercari's selling fee?
10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays, charged only when an item sells. There is no separate seller payment-processing fee on current listings.
Does the 10% fee apply to shipping?
Yes, when the buyer pays shipping, that shipping amount is included in the fee base. On a $50 item with $5 buyer-paid shipping the fee is $5.50, not $5.00.
Is listing on Mercari free?
Yes. There is no listing fee, monthly fee or setup fee; you only pay the selling fee when an item sells.
What does the buyer pay on Mercari?
The buyer pays a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee on the item price plus buyer-paid shipping, on top of the item and shipping. That fee is not deducted from your payout.
What if I offer free shipping?
Then the fee applies to the item price only, but any label you buy comes out of your payout, so enter it in the label-cost field to see the true remainder.
