eBay Final Value Fee Calculator

Calculate eBay's final value fee for your category, including the per-order fee and the lower rate on very high-value sales.

—

The final value fee is eBay's main charge on a sale. Because it applies to shipping the buyer pays as well as the item price, the fee on a listing with charged shipping is always higher than the percentage of the item price alone.

Formula

Final value fee = category percentage of the total amount of the sale + per-order fee ($0.30 for orders of $10 or less, $0.40 for orders over $10). In most categories the percentage is 13.6% up to $7,500 per item and 2.35% on the portion above $7,500. Athletic shoes at $150 or more pay 8% with no per-order fee; jewelry and watches pay 15% up to $5,000 and 9% above that.

How it works

Enter the item price and the shipping the buyer pays, then pick the category. The calculator adds price and shipping to get the fee base, applies the category rate with its high-value tier where one exists, and adds the per-order fee. Sneaker listings under $150 fall back to the most-categories rate, because the 8% rate only applies at $150 or more.

Worked example

A $60 item with $8 shipping charged in a most-categories listing: the total amount of the sale is $68.00. The percentage part is 13.6% of $68.00 = $9.25 (rounded from $9.248). The order is over $10, so the per-order fee is $0.40. Total final value fee $9.65. You keep $68.00 − $9.65 = $58.35 before product and shipping costs.

FAQs

What is the final value fee charged on?

On the total amount of the sale: item price plus any handling and shipping costs collected from the buyer, plus sales tax and other applicable fees. That is why free shipping still costs you a fee on the item price, and charged shipping adds fee on top.

Why is there a per-order fee as well as a percentage?

eBay charges the percentage plus $0.30 per order of $10 or less, or $0.40 per order over $10. The fixed part matters most on cheap items, where it lifts the effective rate above the headline percentage.

Do Store subscribers pay the same rate?

No. Store subscribers pay lower final value fees in many categories, and the discount varies by category. This calculator uses non-Store rates, so a Store subscriber should replace the rate with their own schedule rate.

What happens above $7,500?

In most categories the rate drops to 2.35% on the portion of the sale above $7,500 per item. Jewelry, watches, bags and heavy equipment have their own tier thresholds instead, so check the category table on eBay's fees page.

Does the fee include payment processing?

Yes. eBay states there is no separate third-party payment processing fee on top of the final value fee, because eBay handles payments itself.
