Whatnot
Whatnot Fee Calculator
Work out Whatnot's commission plus its payment-processing fee on a livestream sale, and what is left from the item price.
The result separates the two fees Whatnot charges: commission on the item price only, and payment processing on the whole order value. The 'left from the item price' figure is what remains of the item price after both fees; shipping the buyer paid is separate and goes toward the label and delivery, not into your pocket.
Formula
Commission = commission rate × item price (shipping and tax excluded). Payment processing = 2.9% × (item price + buyer-paid shipping + buyer-paid tax) + $0.30 per order. Total fees = commission + payment processing.
How it works
Enter the item's final sale price, the shipping the buyer pays and any sales tax the buyer pays. Pick your commission rate: 8% is the standard rate for most categories and 4% applies to Coins & Money. Higher-volume sellers can unlock lower commission tiers, so check your rate in Seller Hub if your four-week sales pass $15,000.
Worked example
A $40 item with $10 buyer-paid shipping and no buyer-paid tax: commission at 8% is $3.20. Payment processing is 2.9% of the $50.00 order value ($1.45) plus $0.30 = $1.75. Total fees are $4.95, leaving $40.00 − $4.95 = $35.05 from the item price.
FAQs
What commission does Whatnot charge?
The standard rate starts at 8% of the item's final sale price in most categories, going as low as 3% for the highest-volume sellers. Coins & Money starts at 4%.
Is commission charged on shipping and tax?
No. Whatnot commission applies to the item price only, unlike some marketplaces that charge on the full transaction.
What is the payment-processing fee?
2.9% of the total order value — item price plus buyer-paid shipping plus buyer-paid tax — plus $0.30 per order. It does not drop with your commission tier.
Does Whatnot charge a listing fee?
No. Creating and managing listings is free; you only pay commission and processing when something sells.
Why do higher-volume sellers pay less commission?
Since September 2026, Whatnot sets your commission from your sales over the previous four-week period, so passing $15,000 in four-week sales unlocks a lower rate for the next period.
