Formula
Commission per sale = commission rate × item price. Gross commission = commission per sale × creator-driven sales. Clawback = gross commission × return rate. Net creator payout = gross commission − clawback.
How it works
Enter the creator-driven sales, item price, commission rate and expected return rate. The calculator shows gross commission, the amount clawed back on returned orders and the net payout the creator keeps, so both sides can agree a rate with returns already in view.
Worked example
A creator driving 200 sales of a $24 item at 15% commission, with a 10% return rate: commission per sale 15% of $24.00 = $3.60. Gross commission = $3.60 × 200 = $720.00. Clawback on returns = 10% of $720.00 = $72.00. Net creator payout = $720.00 − $72.00 = $648.00 across 180 kept sales.
FAQs
Does the creator keep commission on returned orders?
No. Commission on a returned order is clawed back, so the creator is paid on kept sales. The return rate field models that clawback.
Who pays the refund administration fee on a return?
The seller does. TikTok Shop keeps a refund administration fee, reported as 20% of the original referral fee capped at $5 per SKU, on refunded orders. That fee is a seller cost and is not deducted from the creator payout shown here.
Is this the same as the affiliate commission calculator?
No. The affiliate commission calculator shows the total creator cost on sales before returns. This calculator goes one step further and deducts the return clawback to show the net payout.
What return rate should I enter?
Use your own category history if you have it. If you have no history, test 10% as a starting scenario and re-run the numbers at 5% and 20% to see how sensitive the payout is.
Does the creator payout include the referral fee?
No. The referral fee goes to TikTok Shop and is separate from creator pay. Add it when you work out the full cost of a creator-driven order.

Note: some third-party reports say the standard US referral rate rose to 8% from August 4, 2026. TikTok's published category table still lists 6% for most categories (revised May 2026). Check your own rate in Seller Center and change the rate field if it differs.
