POD Bulk Order Calculator
Bulk orders cut both the product price and the shipping rate. This calculator shows the per-item cost at your quantity, with and without the discounts.
Formula
Discounted unit base = unit base cost × (1 − product discount). Discounted unit shipping = unit shipping × (1 − shipping discount). Total bulk cost = quantity × discounted unit base + quantity × discounted unit shipping. Per-item cost = total bulk cost ÷ quantity.
How it works
Enter the single-item base cost and shipping, the quantity you are ordering, and the product and shipping discount percentages your provider gives at that quantity. The calculator applies both discounts, totals the order, and compares it with the same order at full price, so the saving is visible in dollars as well as per item.
Worked example
Unit base cost $8.39, unit shipping $5.00, quantity 60, product discount 20% and shipping discount 50%: discounted unit base $8.39 × 0.80 = $6.712 (shown as $6.71), discounted unit shipping $5.00 × 0.50 = $2.50. Total product cost 60 × $6.712 = $402.72, total shipping 60 × $2.50 = $150.00, total bulk cost $552.72, which is $9.21 per item. Without discounts the same order costs 60 × $8.39 + 60 × $5.00 = $803.40, or $13.39 per item, so the discounts save $250.68. The $8.39 figure is Printify's published price for a Gildan 5000 Heavy Cotton Tee, and Printify offers up to 46% off products and up to 50% off shipping on bulk orders of 20 or more similar items from the same provider, with product discounts typically starting at 51 or more units — so confirm the discount your exact product and provider give at your quantity.
FAQs
What counts as a bulk order?
On Printify, an order of at least 20 similar items from the same Print Provider qualifies for bulk savings, with up to 46% off products and up to 50% off shipping. Eligibility and minimum quantities vary by product and provider, so check your item before ordering.
Do product and shipping discounts start at the same quantity?
Not always. Printify's shipping discount applies at 20 or more eligible items from the same provider, while product discounts typically start at 51 or more units and range from 5% to 46%. Enter each discount separately so a quantity that earns one discount but not the other is modelled correctly.
Can bulk discounts combine with a Premium plan discount?
Bulk discounts are applied at checkout on eligible products, and Printify states the two types of bulk discount can be applied individually or combined for qualifying orders. Check your checkout total, because the exact combination depends on the product and provider.
Is a bulk order still print on demand?
Yes in the sense that items are printed for that order with no stock held, but you pay for the whole quantity up front and hold the items yourself, unlike a single POD sale where the buyer pays first. Only bulk-order what you are confident of selling or giving away.
Why is the per-item figure rounded?
Unit prices after a percentage discount often run past two decimal places — $8.39 at 20% off is $6.712. The calculator rounds displayed dollars to cents, so a displayed per-item figure can differ by a cent from dividing the displayed total.
