eBay Store Subscription Calculator
Find out whether an eBay Store pays for itself at your sales volume — comparing no Store against Starter, Basic, Premium, Anchor and Enterprise.
The cheapest tier is the one with the lowest combined monthly cost: subscription plus final value fees plus insertion fees for listings above the free allowance. It answers a subscription question, not a pricing question — the per-order fee and any Promoted Listings spend sit outside this comparison.
Formula
Total monthly cost per tier = subscription + (monthly sales × final value fee rate) + (listings above the free allowance × $0.35). Most categories: 13.6% with no Store or Starter, 12.7% with Basic and above. Free fixed-price listings: 250 (no Store/Starter), 1,000 (Basic), 10,000 (Premium), 25,000 (Anchor), 100,000 (Enterprise).
How it works
Enter your monthly sales and how many fixed-price listings you create. The calculator prices every tier on the same sales: the fee saving from Basic upward is 0.9 percentage points, so the subscription only wins once your sales (and listing count) are high enough to cover it.
Worked example
Monthly sales $3,000, 400 listings, yearly renewal. No Store: 13.6% = $408.00 plus 150 extra listings × $0.35 = $52.50, total $460.50. Basic: 12.7% = $381.00 plus $21.95 subscription, no extra-listing charge (400 is under 1,000), total $402.95. Basic saves $57.55 a month here, so it pays for itself on the fee saving alone.
FAQs
At what sales level does Basic pay for itself?
On the fee saving alone, divide the subscription by 0.009: $21.95 ÷ 0.009 is about $2,439 a month in most categories. Extra free listings push the breakeven lower if you list heavily.
Why does Starter not lower the fee rate?
Starter adds a shopfront and tools but keeps the non-Store final value fee rate. Only Basic and above move to the lower rate table in most categories.
Why do Premium and Anchor show the same fee rate as Basic?
Because they do. Above Basic you are paying for more free listings and tools, not a lower percentage — upgrade for volume, not for rate.
Are per-order fees included?
No. The $0.30/$0.40 per-order fee applies across tiers and does not change the ranking, so it is left out to keep the comparison clean.
Do category exceptions change this?
Yes. Some categories have different rates and caps, and the lower Store rate applies up to a per-item threshold. Check your category's rate before relying on the most-categories figure.
