Dropshipping Subscription Cost Calculator

Monthly subscriptions look small until they are divided by a small order count. Spread them per order and see your true profit after fixed monthly costs.

—

Subscriptions hurt most at low volume: the same $63 a month is $0.79 per order at 80 orders but $6.30 at 10 orders. If volume falls, either cut subscriptions or accept that true profit per order has fallen with it.

Formula

Profit before subscriptions = selling price − supplier product cost − shipping cost − payment fee, where payment fee = (payment fee rate × selling price) + fixed fee. Subscription cost per order = (store plan + apps and tools + other monthly costs) ÷ orders per month. True profit per order = profit before subscriptions − subscription cost per order.

How it works

Enter the selling price and per-order costs, then your monthly subscriptions split into store plan, apps and tools, and other monthly costs, plus your orders per month. The calculator spreads the monthly total across orders and subtracts it from per-order profit. Subscription prices are inputs from your own billing pages — plan prices differ by billing cycle and provider, so enter the amount you actually pay each month rather than a headline rate.

Worked example

Selling price $29.99, product $9.50, shipping $4.00, payment fee 2.9% plus $0.30, store plan $39.00, apps $24.00, other $0.00, 80 orders a month. Payment fee = 2.9% of $29.99 = $0.87, plus $0.30 = $1.17. Profit before subscriptions = $29.99 − $9.50 − $4.00 − $1.17 = $15.32. Subscriptions total $63.00 a month, so per order = $63.00 ÷ 80 = $0.79. True profit = $15.32 − $0.79 = $14.53 per order.

FAQs

Why spread subscriptions per order at all?

Because a monthly cost still comes out of the money your orders earn. Spreading it shows whether a low-volume month turns a healthy-looking per-order profit into a thin one.

What goes in the store plan field?

The amount you actually pay each month for your store platform, after any annual-billing discount. Enter your billed monthly equivalent, not a headline monthly price, if you pay yearly.

Should annual subscriptions go in here?

Yes, divided by 12: a $120 yearly app costs $10 a month for this calculator. That keeps monthly and yearly tools on the same footing.

What if I have months with very few orders?

Use your expected average orders, and also test a low month. The per-order cost rises sharply as volume falls, which is exactly when a subscription audit pays.

Does this include ad spend?

No. Ad spend varies per order and belongs in the Dropshipping Ad Spend Calculator. Combine both results — subscriptions per order plus ad spend per order — for the full picture.

Stand: October 2026. Pure arithmetic — no platform rate is used; enter your own figures.

Sources: This calculator uses no published subscription price — every figure is an input from your own store and app billing pages. For ad spend per order, see the Dropshipping Ad Spend Calculator.

Disclaimer: Results are estimates and general information only, not financial advice. Dropshipping has no single fixed platform fee, so every cost on this page is one you enter from your own supplier invoices, shipping bills and payment statements — check those documents before you set a price.
